European Union: are job advertisements finally transparent about salaries?

Euronews Portugal8 September 2026 at 04:33

The European Union's Pay Transparency Directive set a deadline for member countries to implement measures requiring companies to include salary information in job postings. However, only some countries actually met this deadline within the set timeframe.

Data collected by the job platform Indeed indicates that there have been changes in the percentage of job offers that include salary information. This trend suggests that, despite uneven progress among countries, there is a gradual shift toward greater salary transparency in European labor markets.

The directive aims to combat salary disparities between men and women, allowing job seekers to access clear information about remuneration before applying for a position. This measure is part of a broader EU effort to promote gender equality in the labor market.

Haakon VIII, 'Frozen' for adults

This satirical article comments on the Norwegian monarchy, comparing it ironically to Disney's movie "Frozen." The author uses references to the animated film to criticize the Norwegian royal family, mentioning Queen consort Mette-Marit and her stepson Marius, in a provocative tone that connects the Norwegian monarchy situation with the Ceuta crisis. The piece presents itself as veiled political commentary in humorous form, questioning the role of contemporary European monarchies.
