The first deadlines established by the president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Edson Fachin, to clarify the events that triggered the current crisis at the Court end this week. By then, ministers Alexandre de Moraes and André Mendonça, in addition to Attorney General Paulo Gonet and Federal Police Director Andrei Rodrigues, must submit their responses regarding the Federal Police report that revealed messages from banker Daniel Vorcaro with references to members of the leadership of the Three Branches of Government.
Among the documents analyzed are messages sent by Vorcaro to Moraes. The schedule defined by Fachin is expected to result in a decision on the next steps being delayed until the final stretch of the electoral campaign, just weeks before the first round on October 4.
There is a second case under analysis by Fachin, opened based on accusations made by Moraes against former President Jair Bolsonaro and other individuals, which has a longer timeline. This second case is not expected to have as immediate a resolution as the first one.
