Japan records current account surplus of 16.7 billion euros in July

SAPO Notícias8 September 2026 at 03:15

Japan recorded a current account surplus of 2.99 trillion yen, equivalent to 16.7 billion euros, in the month of July. This information was communicated by the Japanese Government.

The current account surplus is an economic indicator that measures the difference between a country's exports and imports of goods, services, and transfers. When it is positive, it means the country is exporting more than it is importing.

This result reflects Japan's trade and financial balance during the period in question. The surplus value in yen was converted to euros for international comparability purposes.

The announcement was made today by the Japanese executive, making this data available on the country's economic performance during the month of July.

Rio needs to take advantage of the relief to put the accounts in order

The State of Rio de Janeiro achieved historic relief by joining the Full Debt Payment Program (Propag), which reduced the monthly debt installment to the Union from R$ 490 million to R$ 119 million and replaced the IPCA plus 4% per year adjustment with something close to zero for the next 30 years. After nine years in the Fiscal Recovery Regime, marked by rising debt, court injunctions, and renegotiations, the state gains an opportunity to contain the explosive trajectory of its indebtedness, although the relief is conditioned on a debt service that, even if smaller, will grow over time.
