Argentina takes Israeli oil company Navitas to court for operating in the Maldives

SAPO Notícias8 September 2026 at 01:22

Argentina announced on Monday that it will file a criminal complaint against several subsidiaries of the Israeli oil company Navitas. The Argentine government alleges that the company operates without authorization from the South American country in the Falkland Islands. The oil company is thus being taken to court for its activity on these islands, which Argentina claims as its territory. The announcement was made by the Presidency of Argentina, which bases the complaint on the absence of official permission for the operation. The Falkland Islands have been under British administration since 1833, a situation Argentina has never recognized and which is the subject of a sovereignty dispute between the two countries.
