The Polytechnic University of Beja (UPBeja), a higher education institution located in Alentejo, will offer starting next academic year a new Higher Technical Professional Course (CTeSP) in Border and Eurocity Tourism. This course aims to train specialized professionals to work in cross-border territories.
The course results from a partnership between UPBeja and Turismo de Portugal, the entity responsible for managing and promoting national tourism. This collaboration gives the program training and professional perspectives aligned with the needs of the Portuguese tourism sector.
The creation of this course is part of the context of the Eurocity Elvas-Badajoz, a cross-border territory that encompasses municipalities on both sides of the border between Portugal and Spain. This region has been developing cooperation projects to boost local tourism.
Turismo de Portugal confirmed the strategic interest of this training, which aims to equip professionals with skills for the specificities of tourism in border areas, where tourist flows and logistical challenges present their own characteristics.
