Jornal Económico7 September 2026 at 22:30

The Portuguese Government will meet with all parties with parliamentary seats "at the end of the month" to discuss the State Budget for 2027. The information was confirmed by a source from the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs' office, Carlos Abreu Amorim, to the Lusil news agency.

According to the ministerial office, the meetings will take place in the Assembly of the Republic, as is usual, with the aim of preparing the budget for the next year. The negotiation process with the parties is a standard procedure of the executive for the preparation of the budgetary document.

The president of Chega, André Ventura, publicly confirmed that he received a meeting request from the executive to discuss the next State Budget, showing that the party consultation process is already underway.

The State Budget must be submitted to the Assembly of the Republic by October 10, a date that this year falls on a Saturday. Last year, the Government submitted the document on October 9, on the eve of the deadline and coinciding with the last day of the local election campaign.
