The group Roupa Nova celebrated their return to Rock in Rio and dedicated the show to the fans, reaffirming that the band will always be composed of seven members, even after the loss of a vocalist. The band performed on the World Stage on Monday, the 7th.

The Rock in Rio opening theme, "Se a vida começasse agora..." (If life started now...), was interpreted by EXTRA newspaper with the fans at the City of Rock to verify if they recognized the band responsible for recording the hit. The composition is by Nelson Wellington and Eduardo Souto Neto, the latter being a maestro who is also responsible for the "Victory Theme," which became Ayrton Senna's music.

Roupa Nova was invited in 1985, in the festival's debut year, to record the opening theme. The first person to correctly identify the band was a 19-year-old young woman, who recognized the music immediately.
