The new season for naming extratropical storms in Europe began on September 1, running until August 31, 2027. This is a coordinated naming system among various European meteorological services, which assign names to significant storms affecting the continent.
Portugal is part of the southwest group of this naming system, through the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA). The IPMA participated in defining the list of names for this season, together with the remaining partner meteorological services of the group.
The list is composed of 21 names, organized alphabetically and alternating between male and female designations. Adam will be the first name of this season, followed by the remaining names in alphabetical order.
