Bernice Ecclestone, former Formula 1 leader, was detained at Tires Aerodrome in Portugal, following an operation by Portuguese authorities.

The detention occurred during a routine inspection of his private jet, as he was on board the aircraft.

During the search of the aircraft, an undocumented firearm was discovered, meaning it did not have the proper authorization or registration to be transported.

The authorities proceeded with the detention of Bernice Ecclestone for illegal possession of a weapon, in a case involving Portuguese border control.
