Kremlin says "not ruling out" resumption of negotiations with Kyiv and Washington

RTP Notícias7 September 2026 at 19:31

The Kremlin stated today that it is not ruling out the resumption of negotiations between Moscow, Kyiv, and Washington to find a solution to the war in Ukraine. This position comes after the visit to Russia of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The talks between Russian representatives and the United States envoys reportedly took place during Witkoff and Kushner's visit to Russian territory, although the specific details of the meeting have not been fully disclosed.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was the one to announce the Russian position, indicating that Moscow is open to continuing dialogue, although without confirming concrete commitments about when or how these negotiations could take place.

The possibility of resuming negotiations comes at a time when the conflict in Ukraine has been ongoing for more than three years, with both sides registering significant territorial advances and losses.
