Lyon officially confirmed that there were contacts for Karim Benzema's return to the club. The confirmation was made by Michael Gerlinger, director of Lyon, who acknowledged the existence of conversations regarding the return of the French striker.
Michael Gerlinger also spoke about Paulo Fonseca's situation, revealing that the club supports the Portuguese coach and that matters related to his renewal were discussed. The director did not specify details about the state of negotiations.
Karim Benzema, who previously played for Lyon, left Al-Ittihad in 2024 and has been associated with a possible return to Europe. This is not the first time rumors have emerged about a possible transfer of the Frenchman to his former club.
Lyon is going through a restructuring phase, with the club's management working on both the renewal of the technical staff and strengthening the squad for the next season.
