The Jovens do Brasil project was created to support Brazilian teenagers studying in the United States, offering a network for exchange among young people living in different regions of Florida. The initiative is linked to the Grupo Mulheres do Brasil and was designed by young people for young people, focusing on personal, academic, and professional development. The proposal emerged from listening to those who face the challenges of growing up between Brazilian and American culture.
Among the participants in building the project are siblings Maria Gabriela and João Lucas. Maria Gabriela is in her senior year of high school and is in the phase of preparing for American universities, raising common questions among immigrant families about admission, scholarships, and academic planning. João Lucas, a student and athlete, balances school responsibilities with competitive soccer, showing that young people can seek opportunities in different areas but need clear information and nearby role models.
The planned program for the first edition includes topics such as leadership, communication, public speaking, artificial intelligence, financial education, SAT preparation, resume building, LinkedIn, volunteering, and self-knowledge. Experiences and visits related to the academic environment are also planned. The debut will be a free pilot project, conducted within the Grupo Mulheres do Brasil with support from community partners.
The initiative was also presented to the Brazilian consul, who expressed support for creating development spaces for the new generation growing up in the United States. More than just offering activities, Jovens do Brasil seeks to open space for youth leadership, allowing teenagers themselves to share doubts, discoveries, and opportunities with peers who face similar realities, showing that maintaining Brazilian roots can go hand in hand with new plans in the United States.
