Minister Fernando Alexandre confirmed that there are more than two thousand positions still to be filled in Portuguese schools. This information was provided during a public statement about the situation of teaching staff in the education system.
The minister referred to the end of the week for a more precise assessment of the number of teachers missing in schools. The reason for this postponement is related to the holding of another teacher placement competition during that period.
This placement competition will be decisive in determining how many teachers will be effectively allocated to schools and which needs will remain unmet. The Ministry of Education expects the process to help reduce the current deficit of teachers.
