In Trafaria, in the Tagus, supermarket trolleys that had fallen into the river's waters began to be used as homes by seahorses. The animals themselves were the pioneers of this unlikely solution, adapting the trolleys into natural shelters.
Following this discovery, a project emerged that aims to intentionally transform shopping carts into shelters for seahorses, replicating the behavior that the animals had already adopted spontaneously.
The initiative comes in the context of protecting this fish species, taking advantage of an improvised solution that the seahorses had already found on their own in the waters of the Tagus.
