Judge María Tardón opened a criminal investigation into the massive entry of migrants in Ceuta at the end of July. The magistrate will analyze possible crimes against territorial integrity, negligent homicide, and criminal organization.
The investigation arose after the detection of signs of coordinated action from Morocco. The Spanish authorities suspect that the entry of migrants was not spontaneous, but rather planned.
Ceuta is a Spanish city located in northern Africa, bordering Morocco. This enclave has been frequently targeted by attempts of massive entry of migrants from Moroccan territory.
