CEO of Caixabank leaves BPI's board

Eco7 September 2026 at 19:13

BPI's management bodies for the three-year period 2026-2028 keep Fernando Ulrich at the head of the board of directors and João Pedro Oliveira e Costa as CEO, thus ensuring continuity in the bank's leadership.

The main change is the departure from the board of Gonzalo Gortázar Rotaeche, CEO of Caixabank, which is the controlling shareholder of the Portuguese bank. This departure marks a change in the composition of the board of directors.

The executive committee remains untouched, with the CEO and board members Afonso Fuzeta Eça, Ana Rosas Oliveira, Diogo Sousa Louro, Francisco Artur Matos and Susana Trigo Cabral. All changes were reserved for the board of directors.

Fernando Ulrich continues as chairman of the board, but a new position of second vice-chairman was created, held by Javier Pano Riera. Cristina Rios Amorim remains as vice-chairman, now formally holding the position of first vice-chairman.
