The Socialist Party in Madeira demanded more respect for municipalities and greater urgency from the Ministry of Internal Administration in the construction of new PSP police stations in the region. The president of PS-Madeira, Célia Pessegueiro, accompanied by the mayor of Machico, Hugo Marques, by regional leaders and other local officials from the municipality, held a press conference to address this issue.
During the intervention, Célia Pessegueiro criticized the lack of rigor demonstrated by Minister Luís Neves, responsible for the Ministry of Internal Administration. The representatives of PS-Madeira also pointed to a continuous attitude of disrespect on the part of the Regional Government.
The local officials present at the press conference defended that the work developed by the municipalities and regional autonomy must be properly recognized and respected. This demand arises in the context of the need for the construction of new PSP police stations in Madeira, a matter that PS-Madeira considers is not advancing with the necessary speed.
