Estonia's Prime Minister, Kaja Kallas, expressed concern about the growth of European parties that downplay Russian threats. Her statements come after the victory of the Alternative for Germany party (AfD) in the regional elections in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, in Germany.
Kallas warned that there are political forces in Europe that seem "blind to the Russian threat," considering this situation concerning for the future of the European continent.
The Estonian leader is known for her firm position against Russia and has been one of the most critical voices regarding the need for European countries to strengthen their preparation for external threats.
The AfD party, which won the Saxony-Anhalt elections, has been associated with positions favorable to Russia, which contrasts with Kallas's stance and that of other European governments that emphasize the risks posed by Moscow.
