Firefighters rescue young person on the walkways of São Mamede de Ribatua

A Voz de Trás-os-Montes7 September 2026 at 17:30

The Volunteer Firefighters of Alijó rescued a young person on the walkways of São Mamede de Ribatua. The alert was given through the Emergency Patient Guidance Centre, mobilizing three vehicles and nine personnel for the operation.

Following the rescue, the corporation renewed its appeal for responsibility and caution from those who visit the walkways and other pedestrian trails. The firefighters recommend prior planning of the route, the use of appropriate footwear for uneven terrain, avoiding leaving the marked paths and carrying water, a mobile phone with a charged battery and sun protection.

This was not the first operation of this kind on the walkways, with a similar situation occurring in July. The infrastructure combines elevated platform sections with dirt pedestrian paths, having been inaugurated last March at a ceremony that was attended by the mayor of Alijó, the Secretary of State for the Environment, the director of the Tua Valley Regional Natural Park and hundreds of people. The investment aims to focus on sustainable tourism and the development of the territory.
