Elton John is the headliner of Rock in Rio 2026, performing at Palco Mundo at 11 PM this Monday (7), on a day dedicated to soul, R&B, jazz, MPB, and other genres. The British singer, considered one of the greatest in pop music history, has previously performed at the festival in 2011 and 2015.
The 79-year-old artist officially retired from big tours in 2023, when he concluded the Farewell Yellow Brick Road, a tour that lasted five years. At the time, John said he wanted to dedicate more time to his family and be closer to them, in addition to citing age as a factor in stepping away from the extensive commitments.
Elton John has publicly stated that he doesn't miss touring at all, which he considered extremely exhausting. His shows are known for their long duration, exceeding two hours, as well as the intense routine of traveling through several countries.
Despite the retirement, the singer makes some special exceptions for specific events, always with different setlists at each performance. Rock in Rio 2026 is one of those exceptions, being a festival already familiar to the artist, who is now returning to the event.
