The president of PS-Madeira, Célia Pessegueiro, accompanied by the mayor of Machico, Hugo Marques, and other local officials from the municipality, held a press conference to criticize the posture of the Regional Government and the Ministry of Internal Administration regarding the construction of new PSP police stations in Madeira.
Célia Pessegueiro pointed out what she considered to be "lack of rigor" on the part of Minister Luís Neves and a "continuous attitude of disrespect of the Regional Government towards the autonomy and work developed by the municipalities" of the region.
The socialist party stated that the recent visit of the Minister of Internal Administration to Madeira would have demonstrated a posture that the PS-Madeira officials consider problematic regarding the fulfillment of commitments made with the Madeiran municipalities.
PS-Madeira now demands that the Regional Government demonstrate respect for the municipalities and that the MAI act with urgency in the construction of the new PSP police stations in the region.
