The Coimbra Public Security Police arrested seven men, aged between 24 and 48, during the weekend, with four arrests in Figueira da Foz and three in Coimbra. In Figueira da Foz, three arrests are related to road traffic offenses and one for resistance and coercion against a public official.
On Friday, September 4th, at 4:45 PM, a 44-year-old man was arrested on Rua Afonso de Albuquerque for driving without a legal license and for disobedience, with the motorcycle he was riding having been seized since October 2025 for lack of mandatory insurance. On Saturday morning, a 29-year-old man was arrested on the A14 for driving without a license and, hours later, a 33-year-old man was intercepted at the Fisherman's roundabout in Buarcos, with a blood alcohol level of 1.46 g/l.
Also on Saturday morning, at 3:20 AM, a 24-year-old man was arrested on Rua Cândido dos Reis for resistance and coercion against a public official. The suspect, allegedly detained by the security guard of a nightclub for leaving the premises without paying 43 euros, directed threats and serious insults at the police officers who arrived at the scene, maintaining a hostile behavior despite the warnings.
In Coimbra, three men were arrested for dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. A 33-year-old man was intercepted on Rua da Liberdade after fleeing from the GNR in a prohibited direction, performing dangerous maneuvers and driving against traffic. At João Paulo II Square, a 40-year-old man was arrested with a TAS of 1.67 g/l and, on Sunday, a 48-year-old man was caught on Rua Infanta Dona Maria with a TAS of 2.57 g/l.
