PAN votes against censure motion for refusing to "join the media show" of Chega

Correio da Manhã7 September 2026 at 16:59

The PAN (People-Animals-Nature) voted against a censure motion presented by Chega. The party leader, Inês Sousa Real, justified the position indicating that the party refuses to "join the media show" that Chega would be promoting with the presentation of the motion.

Inês Sousa Real emphasized that PAN does not intend to participate in what it considered to be a media nature show on the part of Chega. The decision to vote against the censure motion was made on this basis.

Instead of getting involved in the censure motion, PAN announced that it will focus on the discussion of the State Budget. This was presented as the party's priority for action in the post-voting period.

PAN's vote against Chega's censure motion comes in a context of political positioning by the party, which chose not to give visibility to André Ventura's party's initiative.
