The eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano in Indonesia caused major chaos in the country's air transport. Volcanic ash released by the eruption forced the closure of eight airports, resulting in the cancellation of approximately 2,300 flights.
More than 268,000 passengers were stranded at the airports affected by the situation. Travelers faced long queues seeking refunds for cancelled tickets due to the emergency caused by the ash cloud.
Indonesia, located in the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, is frequently affected by volcanic activity. Anak Krakatau, which means "child of Krakatau," is one of the most active volcanoes in the region and has caused significant air problems in the past.
