The Mata Nacional dos Sete Montes, in Tomar, should partially reopen to the public in October, almost nine months after being affected by Storm Kristin. The storm caused significant damage, affecting around a thousand trees in the area.
The return of the forest to public availability was announced by the Government and the Tomar City Council. The authorities intend that, in October, the mayor and ICNF (Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests) will be able to reopen the space.
Nevertheless, the reopening may not cover the entirety of the area that would be desirable, possibly being limited to a smaller extent than initially intended by the responsible entities.
