MC Kevin's death sparked discussion again on social media after a statement by delegate Maria Corsato involving the singer and Deolane Bezerra. In a video circulating on social media, Corsato stated mockingly that Kevin would have preferred "to meet the devil" rather than meet Deolane. The funk singer's mother, Valquíria Nascimento, known as Val Negra on social media, spoke out demanding respect for her son's memory. "My son is no longer here to respond. But I am here as a mother to demand respect for his memory," she wrote.

The singer died at age 23, on May 16, 2021, after falling from the balcony of the fifth floor of a hotel on the waterfront of Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro. Corsato's statement was interpreted by Valquíria as crossing the line in the debate about the case.
