Arreigada joined for El Salvador in a game that was much more than futsal

Jornal 3607 September 2026 at 15:42

The Gymnasium of the Arreigada Schools hosted this Sunday a presentation game of the Under-10s of GDCREA – Arreigada Schools and F.C. Paços de Ferreira Dreamcouch Futsal. The match, which opposed the two children's futsal teams, had as its main objective to give visibility to a solidarity cause related to Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic disease that affects children known as "butterfly children."

The initiative sought to support Salvador, a child living with this condition that makes the skin extremely fragile and requires permanent care. The event brought together athletes, families and community members, at a moment that went beyond the purely sporting dimension to become an awareness and solidarity action.

The organization of the game arose from the willingness of Sandra Barros, who learned about Salvador's story and the reality experienced by the family. The objective was to alert to the difficulties faced by children and families affected by EB, including barriers to accessing treatments.

One of the concerns highlighted at the event is access to VYJUVEK, a therapy intended for a specific form of Epidermolysis Bullosa. The mobilization in Arreigada aimed to draw attention to the need to ensure that children who may benefit from this treatment have access to it.
