The Administrative Court of Lisbon Circle rescheduled the hearings related to the development process of Quinta dos Ingleses, in Carcavelos, on the coast of Lisbon. The decision comes at a time of growing public mobilization regarding the future of this area.
The civic movement that formed in defense of Quinta dos Ingleses advocates for the expropriation of the entire area to create "a natural park." Supporters of this position argue that the zone should be preserved rather than subjected to any construction project.
Quinta dos Ingleses is an area of great environmental value located near Carcavelos beach, belonging to the parish of Cascais and Oeiras. The land has been the subject of real estate interest, with development projects previously proposed.
The judicial process now rescheduled will be decisive for the future of the area, in a dispute that pits real estate developers against civil organizations fighting for the classification of the space as a natural park.
