VGBL is a pension plan that allows, after an accumulation period, to convert the balance into monthly income. There are three main options to receive this money. The first is the lifetime monthly income, where the insurer calculates the amount based on the available balance and the beneficiary's age. The second option is to receive income for a set period, similar to Tesouro RendA+, with fixed amounts during a period established by the insurer. The third alternative is to make withdrawals as needed, but in this case it is necessary to control the amounts so that the money does not run out before expected.
Of the available options, only the lifetime monthly income does not transfer the funds to the heirs. This means that, when choosing this type of payment, the beneficiary does not leave a residual estate for their family after death. However, there is the possibility of contracting a lifetime income that can be transferred to the spouse, thus ensuring that the investment continues to benefit the wife in case of the holder's death.
