A study developed at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto on the effectiveness of cardiac rehabilitation in post-heart transplant patients was cited in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology. The work, titled "Effectiveness of Exercise-Based Cardiac Rehabilitation for...", analyzed the benefits of physical exercise in the recovery of these patients.
The European guidelines were published last August, incorporating the conclusions of the Portuguese study as a reference for clinical practice in cardiac rehabilitation. This inclusion represents an acknowledgment of the quality of the research developed at FMUP at the international level.
The European Society of Cardiology is the entity responsible for developing these guidelines, which serve as a reference for health professionals throughout Europe regarding best practices in cardiac rehabilitation. The Portuguese study contributes to supporting the European recommendations in this specific area of post-transplant rehabilitation.
