Sérgio Castro from Paços is national Kartcross champion

Jornal 3606 September 2026 at 21:31

Sérgio Castro became this Sunday the national Kartcross champion by confirming the title at the event held in Castelo Branco. From Figueiró, in the municipality of Paços de Ferreira, the driver arrived at the sixth and penultimate round of the Portuguese Ralicross/Kartcross Championship in the lead of the competition, with a 43-point advantage over the second-place driver, Fábio Machado.

The driver, who competes at the wheel of a Semog White Shark, has been one of the great protagonists of the season, accumulating three victories in the championship before the Castelo Branco event. The last of these victories was achieved in Montalegre, where Sérgio Castro defeated Gustavo Henriques in the final.

The title now achieved takes on special significance given that Sérgio Castro had come from three consecutive national runner-up finishes, having come very close to first place in recent seasons. This victory represents the fulfillment of an objective the driver had been pursuing for several years.

The achievement was also noted by the Municipal Council of Paços de Ferreira, whose president Paulo Ferreira publicly congratulated the driver, highlighting the feat achieved and the pride it represents for the municipality. The championship will conclude in October, in Lousada, but Sérgio Castro had already secured the title before the final round.
