Câmara Municipal de Angra do Heroísmo7 September 2026 at 12:23

Cáritas of Terceira Island, in partnership with the Municipal Council of Angra do Heroísmo, promoted the III Educational Forum "Voices of the Future – Listening to Educate," dedicated to reflection on the challenges of education and the presentation of the work developed by the 3D Project. The initiative brought together different stakeholders linked to the field of education and the social field, addressing topics such as listening to children, the relationship between school and society, the impact of trauma and interpersonal violence in childhood and adolescence, child participation, and the construction of educational relationships based on repair and cooperation.

The 3D Project, developed by Cáritas of Terceira Island in partnership with the Municipality, operates at the EB1/JI schools of Terra Chã, São Mateus da Calheta, Cantinho, São João de Deus, and Ribeirinha. The project's intervention is based on the Family, Children, and Teachers dimensions, seeking to contribute to socioeducational development, the reduction of aggressive behaviors, the strengthening of the school-family relationship, and the improvement of children's motivation and academic trajectory. In the 2025/2026 school year, it worked with 16 primary school classes and seven pre-school classes, reaching 240 children.

The project also develops training activities for teachers, case identification and follow-up, sessions with classes, family support, promotion of parenting skills, and activities that bring parents and guardians closer to the school, through an intervention coordinated with different entities.

Councilor Rui Drumonde moderated the I Panel "Hearing the Voices of the Future," in which three children and young people from the project, accompanied by a technician, gave their perspective on the importance of the initiative. The President of the Municipal Council of Angra do Heroísmo, Fátima Amorim, stated that the council recognizes education as fundamental for the sustainable and healthy development of society.
