The Belgian Football Federation rejected supporting Gianni Infantino's re-candidacy for the FIFA presidency. The decision was announced in an official statement from the federation.
Infantino has led FIFA since 2016 and confirmed on Sunday the intention to run for a new term. The elections are scheduled for March 2027.
The FIFA president is, so far, the only formally declared candidate for the position. The refusal of Belgian support may signal resistance to his remaining in command of the entity.
The Belgian federation did not specify the detailed reasons for the rejection, but the decision represents a contrast to the support Infantino has received from other national federations.
