Benfica's women's volleyball team officially announced the departure of Emilia Balagué. The young 21-year-old Argentine setter ended her connection with the Club da Luz after one season, having signed a contract with Nea Salamina, a club from Cyprus. In the opposite direction, Martina Bednarek arrived at the red and white squad to reinforce the position.
During her time in Lisbon, Emilia Balagué won the Super Cup title, playing 40 matches wearing the Benfica jersey. The 1.80m player arrived at Benfica after representing Saint-Dié-des-Vosges in France, and leaves the Portuguese club with a title in her resume.
In her home country, the athlete completed her entire development and senior career playing for Estudiantes de la Plata, Villa Dora and also Andalgalá Voley, accumulating significant experience before heading to Europe.
Emilia Balagué also has an internationally prestigious record serving Argentina's senior national team. The volleyball player won the Pan American Cup in 2024, having represented her country in various international competitions.
