LVMH shares at lowest level since November 2020

LVMH shares reached on Thursday, September 3, their lowest level since November 2020, trading at 427 euros, with a decline of more than 33% since the beginning of the year and 14% in one year. Analysts point to the main reasons as the stagnation of economic recovery in China, "discouraging" luxury demand from Chinese consumers, the decline in demand from the wealthiest in that country, and fears regarding fiscal measures on offshore wealth. The conflict in the Middle East is also mentioned as a conditioning factor. Bernstein maintains a target price of 570 euros for LVMH, while JP Morgan considers that the outlook for the sector "will not turn positive anytime soon," forecasting weak trends in China until 2027.
