On Independence Day this Monday, Rio's Downtown will hold a cultural program featuring art, music, poetry, dance, and performance, complementing the traditional civic-military parade. Parada 7 holds its fifth edition with the theme "Independence is an act of culture," bringing together artists, collectives, social movements, and the general public.
The program starts at 2 PM at the Centro Municipal de Artes Hélio Oiticica, located in Praça Tiradentes. There, the audience can attend performances by Bloco Alabasé, Ana Bispo, and Slam das Minas. At 4 PM, participants follow in a procession to the Circo Voador, where the program continues.
Created in 2022, Parada 7 takes advantage of the Independence Day date to transform public space into a cultural stage, bringing artistic production to the city's streets. The event seeks to democratize access to culture and celebrate the historic date through diverse artistic expressions.
