Rock in Rio 2026: see what worked and what fell short on the third day of the festival

The third day of Rock in Rio 2026 was the busiest of the festival so far, marked by heavy rain and a completely packed lawn. DJ Calvin Harris was the headliner at Palco Mundo, closing out the night. The Cidade do Rock received a significant crowd, which remained at the event from before the gates opened until after the international artist's final set.

Barão Vermelho opened the presentations at Palco Mundo and brought tears to the audience by showing archive images of Cazuza, the band's first vocalist who passed away in 1990. The projection happened during the performance of the hit "Todo amor que houver nessa vida," a composition made by Cazuza in partnership with Frejat, the band's current vocalist. Cazuza was one of the stars of the first Rock in Rio, held in 1985, which made the moment even more emotional for fans.

The event coverage was done by reporters from the newspaper O GLOBO, who followed the entire programming from start to finish. The journalism team listed the positive points of the third day, such as the historic performance by Barão Vermelho, and also identified problems that need to be resolved on the remaining days of the festival.

The festival also reinforced its anti-harassment campaign, with the message "Harassment is a crime: No means no," highlighting its commitment to audience safety. Despite the exciting moments, the day featured operational difficulties, described by the reporters as "mishaps," which should be evaluated for future editions of the event.
