Elton John is about to reunite with the Brazilian audience almost a decade after his last performance in the country. The British singer will be the main act at Rock in Rio's Palco Mundo on September 7, in a show that marks his first participation as headliner of the main stage and his return to Brazil after the 2017 shows. The artist himself has already stated that he immediately accepted the invitation, despite having ended his major farewell tour in 2023. At 79, he will make a rare exception to the decision to step away from major tours to return to the Rio festival.
Elton John's relationship with Brazil began in 1995, when the singer performed in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro during the "Made in England" tour. The album that gave the tour its name had been released that year and featured tracks like "Believe" and "Made in England." He later returned to Brazil in 2009, with shows in São Paulo and Rio.
