Siege on Trump: Two months from elections, Democrats favored in the House and advancing in the Senate

oglobo7 September 2026 at 04:00

Less than two months until the midterm elections in the United States, Democrats appear as favorites in the House of Representatives, while they are tied with Republicans in the Senate. This scenario holds even considering that the majority of Senate races occur in states with electorates to the right of the political spectrum.

The latest monthly round of the Focaldata/Financial Times poll recorded an approval of only 33% for Donald Trump, setting a negative record. The average satisfaction of voters in the polls stands at 35%, and the rejection of Trump at this moment is greater than that of all previous presidents at this point in the century.

The FT poll also identified the lowest historical level of support for "Trump 2.0" among conservatives, for the first time below 75%. Among Republicans themselves, 53% express dissatisfaction with the White House's management of the economy, representing an increase of eight percentage points compared to August.
