The group of Supreme Federal Court ministers closest to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is not expected to attend the September 7th parade in Brasilia. All members of the Court were invited, as is customary, but the absence of these ministers has already been communicated to the president's inner circle.
The decision comes amid an unprecedented crisis in the history of the STF, after Minister Andre Mendonça made public a Federal Police report containing dialogues between Minister Alexandre de Moraes and banker Daniel Vorcaro. Moraes, the main target of the disclosure, is not expected to participate in the event.
Alexandre de Moraes, Gilmar Mendes, Flavio Dino and Cristiano Zanin are the four ministers who make up the group with the most direct communication with Lula at the Court, and all will be absent. Gilmar Mendes and Flavio Dino are out of Brasilia and will not attend, as will Zanin. The press office of STF President Edson Fachin did not say whether he would participate in the parade.
Earlier last month, before the crisis erupted, Lula met with Senate President Davi Alcolumbre at Moraes's home. The meeting was significant because the two had been distant, and Zanin also participated in the meeting.
