Flamengo reached the leadership of the 2026 Brasileirão for the first time. This Sunday, the red-and-black team beat Remo 1-0 and, with the goalless draw between Palmeiras and Botafogo, overtook the green-and-white team at the end of the 26th round. The team coached by Leonardo Jardim reached 54 points, surpassing Abel Ferreira's squad, who have 53.

Palmeiras had been at the top of the table since the 7th round, and had a nine-point advantage over Flamengo. However, the team has been on a recent negative streak, with only one victory in the last five games, plus three draws and one defeat.

Flamengo, on the other hand, improved their performance during this period. In the last five games, the current Brazilian champions won four and lost only one. The victory over Mirassol, in the delayed game of the 4th round, last Wednesday, gave an important boost to the table.

With 12 games remaining until the end of the championship, the teams are targeting the direct confrontation at Nubank Parque, in the 36th round, which can represent an early final of the Brasileirão.

Exclusive Glorioso 1904 - António Figueiredo and the barbarous incident in the Benfica game: "It was red"

António Figueiredo, a well-known Benfica supporter, commented on the Eagles' victory against Marítimo in an interview with Exclusivo Glorioso 1904. Regarding player Barreiro, he considered him important for the team, but stressed that "only Eusébio is truly fundamental," praising the defender's dedication and intensity in fighting for the club. Regarding the refereeing, Figueiredo harshly criticized the foul committed on Bah, stating it should have been a red card or, at minimum, a very harsh yellow card, but not even a foul was given, denouncing what he considers to be a serious problem in Portuguese football.
