Jota Quest took the Sunset stage at Rock in Rio this Sunday (6) with a show entirely dedicated to Tim Maia. The performance went through the successful discography of the Rio de Janeiro singer, including songs like "Acende o farol", "Réu confesso", "Gostava tanto de você", "Descobridor dos sete mares" and "Do Leme ao Pontal". The band, led by vocalist Rogério Flausino, got the crowd excited throughout the performance.
During the performance of "Vale tudo", a change in the original lyrics of the song was noticed by those who were paying attention. In Tim Maia's original version, the lyrics say "Só não vale dançar homem com homem/Nem mulher com mulher" (Only dancing man with man/woman with woman is not allowed), while Rogério Flausino sang "Também vale dançar homem com homem/E mulher com mulher" (Dancing man with man/and woman with woman is also allowed), adapting the song to times of greater awareness about sexual diversity.
After the lyric change, Rogério Flausino also declared "Liberou geral" (Everything is allowed), maintaining the animated atmosphere of the show. The change was a way to update the content of Tim Maia's song, which was released in an era with different social values than today.
