The Regional Electoral Court of Minas Gerais (TRE-MG) determined this Sunday that the ICL Notícias portal remove content in which it states that federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL) called banker Daniel Vorcaro, from Master, 'lindão'. Judge Jair Francisco dos Santos gave a 24-hour deadline for compliance. In a note, ICL repudiated the decision and called it 'censorship'.
The interim decision partially grants a right of reply request from the parliamentarian candidate for re-election. The magistrate states that he listened 'carefully' to the audio in the report and concludes there is no moment when Nikolas refers to the banker as 'lindão'.
The judge states that it is 'evident the probability of right, since there was violation of the soundness and integrity of the informative system' of the candidate's campaign. The decision also determines that the article be replaced by an erratum recognizing the error in the information.
ICL Notícias expressed repudiation of the judicial determination, classifying it as censorship. The article was part of coverage on pressure in the polls and political clashes involving the candidate.
