Flamengo won against Remo this Sunday and experienced for the first time, even if momentarily, the leadership of the Brazilian Championship. The match took place at Mangueirão, in Belém. The victory put the red-black team at the top of the table, but coach Leonardo Jardim preferred to brake the team's excitement.
The Portuguese coach acknowledged the merits of the victory achieved, but stated that the most important thing for Flamengo at this moment is to keep feet on the ground. Jardim highlighted that humility, work capacity, and respect for all opponents are determining factors for the continuity of the good campaign.
The commander emphasized the importance of continuing with the same dedication demonstrated so far, working as a collective team both in defense and in attack. According to Jardim, even in more difficult moments, it is fundamental to maintain the grip that the team has been demonstrating and play within the ideas proposed by the technical commission.
Jardim clarified that the squad didn't get excited when everyone considered Flamengo out of the title race, and is also not excited now with the momentary leadership. What moves the team is the motivation and daily work to represent Flamengo at the highest level.
