The American processor company AMD expressed interest in supplying components for the Brazilian federal government's artificial intelligence supercomputer. The project foresees an investment of R$ 1.06 billion and the machine will be acquired through a public bidding process.
The supercomputer will be installed at the Augusto Severo Science and Technology Park, located in Macaíba, in Rio Grande do Norte. AMD informed that it has been working on the matter and providing information to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation as requested.
According to Sergio Santos, general director of AMD in Brazil, the company participates in the process through its partners, which include HP, Lenovo and Dell. These companies are responsible for assembling cluster proposals, balancing technology and cost, while AMD supplies the components to them.
Santos explained that the bidding process was elaborated over a long time and that the company is in constant contact with the government to provide the necessary information for participation in the acquisition process.
