This year's edition of the Porto Book Fair reached a new attendance record, registering a higher turnout than previous editions.

However, despite the increase in visitors, some booksellers pointed to a drop in sales compared to the previous edition, from 2025.

This paradoxical situation between more public and lower sales generated concern among the book sector professionals participating in the fair.

The booksellers expressed concern about the impact of this drop on their commercial activities.

"Bienal Internacional de Artes e Ofícios" closes in Castelo Branco focusing on "UNESCO Creative Cities" and internationalization

The first edition of the International Biennial of Arts and Crafts took place in Castelo Branco on September 4 and 5, bringing together cities from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network from Portugal, Brazil and Cape Verde to discuss crafts, entrepreneurship and internationalization of creative industries. The event, integrated into the Festival Sabores de Perdição, focused on the enhancement of Castelo Branco's Embroidery and on cooperation between territories such as João Pessoa, in Paraíba, and Praia, in Cape Verde. Representatives from municipalities such as Barcelos, Caldas da Rainha, Covilhã and Matosinhos participated, as well as entities such as DGARTES and CE-CPLP. The organization considered the public participation positive and mentioned that the exhibition "O Mundo Bordado à Mão" is already attracting interest from other municipalities for circulation. Castelo Branco has been part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network since 2023, in the category of "Crafts and Folk Art".
