The Mostra revives the spirit of Bernardo Bertolucci and Susan Sarandon's career through "The Echo Chamber", a film by Andrea Pallaoro that is part of a film festival competition. The project was inspired by a screenplay that Bertolucci was working on when he died in 2018, and that he never managed to complete.
The film was built on a simple and unsettling premise: a man and a woman have been living in the same apartment for 15 years, but they never meet and are only vaguely aware of each other's existence.
Susan Sarandon stars in this production, marking her first appearance in a decade in a major film festival competition. The cast also includes actors Alicia Vikander and Luca Marinelli.
