Vitória SC and Casa Pia draw goalless in Guimarães

Mais Guimarães6 September 2026 at 20:13

Vitória SC and Casa Pia drew 0-0 at the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques in a game marked by a lack of quality and numerous missed chances. The first half was balanced but chaotic, with André Gomes, Casa Pia's first-choice goalkeeper, getting injured midway through the opening period and making way for Ivan Mandic's debut. João Rego also felt discomfort in his shoulder but chose to continue on the pitch. It was during this more confusing period that the main chances arose: David Sousa headed against the post in the 34th minute, Samu Silva was denied by Mandic in the 36th minute, and Lohann Doucet also struck the woodwork near the interval.

In the second half, the scenario changed radically. Vitória SC settled in the opposition's half and dominated completely, but their finishing proved to be off form. Ndoye chose to dribble instead of shoot in the 48th minute, Gustavo Silva hit the crossbar five minutes later, and Samu Silva lost another one-on-one battle with Mandic in the 60th minute. The most blatant moment of ineffectiveness came in the 78th/79th minute, when Gustavo Silva was left one-on-one against Mandic, but the Serbian goalkeeper won the duel.

The Lisbon side still had a scare in the closing stages, when Patrick Ouotro attempted a heel flick in the area, but David Sousa cleared the ball on the line. The defender was thus the protagonist of the decisive intervention to secure the point and ended up being the best player on the pitch. In total, the match recorded three shots against the woodwork, two from Vitória and one from Casa Pia.

With this draw, Vitória SC reaches 4 points, recording their first clean sheet after a win and three defeats in the first five rounds. Casa Pia rises to 1 point, remaining without a win and without scoring any goals in the league, after arriving in Guimarães as the league's sole leader. The minhots' next fixture is already the following Saturday, against Académico de Viseu, in a 6th round match scheduled for 8:30 PM.
