Paulo Portas warned that the lack of memory in digital democracy will end up destroying digital democracy. The Portuguese politician underscored the importance of knowing what East Germany was like, considering it essential to understand this historical reality.
Regarding the program of the AfD party, the German right, Portas said that the idea he retains is that one cannot teach the Hitler period to young Germans. This position of the party has raised concerns about how history is transmitted to new generations.
The former Portuguese minister also expressed concern about the dangers of extremism, warning about the risks these represent in today's democratic societies. This intervention comes in a context of growth of far-right parties in Europe.
