After a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, proceeded to Kiev where they met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
During the meeting in the Ukrainian capital, Zelensky reiterated Ukraine's position calling for a "just and equitable peace," arguing that any agreement must respect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The conversations between the American envoys and Zelensky were described as "encouraging," suggesting progress in the mediation attempts to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Steve Witkoff, who had previously met with Putin, served as the main intermediary in these discussions, in an effort coordinated by the Trump administration to facilitate dialogue between the two parties.
